In our recent sessions we’ve been talking about ‘Jesus on a donkey’. We played ‘Donkey Drive’. The dice was thrown and whichever number it landed on the part of the donkey represented by that number was pinned onto the donkey. A picture of a donkey was hidden in the Village Hall and the children took great delight in trying to find it. During the story, we acted out Palm Sunday.
For our craft we made donkey faces from paper plates. Using a paper plate covered in brown parcel paper, we coloured in the features of the donkey’s face, cut them out and glued them onto the plate.
We sang ‘We have a King who rides a donkey’ and finished with our song ‘Jesus Love’. The toddlers also painted daffodils and added middles and stems. These were placed on the ‘When I think about the Cross’ display in church. The following week we told the Easter Story. As it was told, the children found the pictures relating to that part of the story and glued them onto a piece of wallpaper. We sang a song about Mary. We had some Easter eggs for the children, so for the craft Easter baskets were made, decorated with pictures about the Easter Story and the baskets were lined with coloured tissue paper for the eggs to go on. We sang our song and ended the session by wishing everyone a Happy Easter. All our families attended ‘Easter Cracked Open’ on Good Friday.
New members are always very welcome to our Parent and Toddler group. It is open to all parents and carers from all over the Benefice and we have members from the surrounding area. Parent and Toddler is free of charge.
